I am a mechanical engineer and have been interested in electric cars since the first gas crisis in the early 70s. I am from the northeast and went to school and lived in the mid west until 1983. In 1993 with sponsorship from GE and others, I built my first EV for electric car races in phoenix. I have two race cars I built in the 90s; a Sandhawk (the Voltbuggy tm) and a 1974 Karmann Ghia.
I purchased the Solectria E-10 in 2003. I am presently restoring a Jet Electrica (converted 81 Mercury Lynx). I tend to do things on a low budget and build many parts myself, some tend to go against "common practice" but they have worked well for me. I keep busy at home maintaining our fleet of cars.
I am convinced that niether big business or government will lead us to energy independence, it will be people like the ones in this group that will make it happen.
Forever waiting for the ultimate battery pack!
Keep the faith,
Jimmy Argon
